Classes by groups 3 & 4

Hello everyone! Welcome to another Blog.✌

For this class I remember I was a little late, as I left home a little later than usual. But I was able to make it in time to listen to part of the explanation before the activities.

So this group taught some more familiar greetings. Like "good morning", "it's nice to meet you", etc.

Then, they explained the verb To Be in affirmative form:

What is Spelling and why is it important:

Then, they practiced with some audios and the students had to answer some questions based on what they were able to listen

Then for the Wrap Up activity, they played hot potato but with a Chayanne song in the background. Everyone laughed about it, but Dani and Nath got excited as soon as they heard it, here their reaction:

And here's the whole group - they all did a great job as teachers!

After the pause, we had group #4 with Greetings and spelling personal information.

They did some exercises based on readings

Some students went to the front to read a dialogue

They had a conversation with each other:

And at the end, they asked the students what they have learned, as a wrap up activity.

Overall, it was a good class for both groups. Tomorrow Sept 28th it will be my group's turn, so we will see how it goes. Stay tuned!👀

Classes by groups 1 & 2

Hello everyone! Welcome to my blog. This post is very special as we are starting our first classes with a group of students.😀

The first group in charge was Diana's group, and something I really liked was that they gave them name tags so they could call them by name and become more familiar with each other.

Then they made a circle so that the students could get to know each other. It was fun because each student had to repeat the name of the previous student, so the last student to participate had to try to remember all the previous names.

This group was in charge of teaching the alphabet and some of the more common greetings.

And here is a photo of the whole group. I think they played a very important role as the first group to teach a class. I think the students got a good perspective of the class and felt good overall. This will certainly help the rest of the groups.

After the 1st class, we had a break, so we went for an ice cream.

We came back from the break and started the 2nd class, which was about the Verb To Be and the use of the Present Simple in the affirmative form.

They made a chart on the board, and had the students choose papers, in which they had written subjects, verbs, and complements, then the students had to paste them in the corresponding part.

They played a lot of games with the students, which is a great way to break the ice. Here they are playing a song while the students were passing a ball to each other, once the music stopped, the student who got the ball had to participate.

Here is Dani paying attention to the class. Please don't tell her. If you are seeing this (which you will probably do), Tqm😂

And that is how we finished the first two classes. Congratulations to the first groups who did great. This week we will go with two more groups. And next week it will be my group's turn, so stay tuned.👀✌

Feedback and group planning.

Hello everyone! This post is regarding our class last 09/07. In this class we had to organize again in groups of 4 people, since the original group was of 8 members, but in the end we were able to form all the groups as Lic had planned. My group ended up being composed of Jonathan, Rodrigo and Aby,

Then Lic. Orlando explained to us how the groups and classes would be divided from Thursday to Thursday.

We had to choose a representative to randomly choose the topic to teach and the assigned date. Since I was the only one present in my group I had to be the one. As you can see, we are group #5 in charge of teaching vocabulary related to numbers and objects in the classroom, and we will do it on 09/28/23 for about 45 minutes.

He advised us that we can get the information of the topic from any source, but we can get it from "Touchtone" which is a platform that he provided us. We have to invite beginner English students who can go every Thursday and we can even create a Whatsapp group with them in case something happens or if we have to ask them to bring something for the next class.

Then we got feedback from our first class. I was happy because we got a good grade as a group.

And there I am, reviewing the comments and the grade provided by Lic Orlando.

Overall, I am very excited to start this new phase of the course, in which we will be teaching students that we have never seen before, we don't even know their ages or English level, so it will be a challenging learning process for all of us. So that's it for this post, stay tuned as this coming Thursday will be the first class. 😎

Designing a PDP

Welcome back for another week. This blog is about our class on 8/31/23. And as you can see in the image below, we had a P.P.P review and we designed a PDP lesson plan.

Lic Orlando chose this topic "Real Conditional sentences in the future"

He explained it and gave us some time to practice with some questions:

We created some sentences and he asked us to practice with a recipe:

We had more examples:

We did a final activity to close that topic:

After that, we all started working on a lesson plan for an imaginary topic.

And here is Lic Orlando agreeing with everything we just said while creating the lesson plan.

And that's all for this time. But I don't want to say goodbye without mentioning something that Mr. Orlando mentioned during class that caught my attention. He commented that the students always have to read/listen with a purpose. First the student has to read the text or listen to the audio to be able to answer questions, otherwise the objectives will not be achieved.

Classes 08/24/23

Hello teacher and everyone. For today's blog, I am going to share with you all about the first classes we taught as teachers. First of all, I have to say that it was hilarious to see that everyone was wearing a black t-shirt. Here is a picture of it. 😄

We had a total of 4 groups of 8 people each. The first group was Diana's group, who was in charge of teaching vocabulary, in their case they chose medical vocabulary.

Here they are, teaching us some phrases and its meanings:

Then we played a game, in which we had to pass a hat to each other, but first you had to put it on your head, turn around and put it on the head of another classmate, whoever was left with the hat when the music stopped, had to take a piece of paper and give an example with the written word.

Then we played an online game, related to some questions and answers on the topic.

In the end, I won a candy.

Here's a photo of the whole group:

Afterwards, it was Jessica's group's turn to take on a grammar lesson.

They taught us the 3rd conditional.

Here are some exercises I did during that class:

And here is a photo of the whole group:

After the break, we had Noe's group with another vocabulary lesson, but this time it was about cooking.

We did some exercises to remeber the vocabulary:

And here's the whole group:

Then it was my group's turn. I didn't take many pictures, but here we were doing some activities related to the 2nd conditional, since our lesson was about grammar.

It has been a very good experience overall, I am looking forward to continue practicing teaching, and from now on it will be even better, as we will be teaching other people who are not part of our class.

And this is the end.

Last Entry Groups 7 & 8 (Nov 9th)

Welcome to my last Didactics II entry. I have to admit it, but I feel a little sad that everything has come to an end, especially this class...
